India doing trials for 3 COVID 19 vaccines

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India is doing trials for 3 COVID 19 vaccines.

He announced it during his Independence Day address delivered from Red Fort after the Flag hoisting ceremony.

He announced that these trials are in different stages of development and evaluation.

He also announced that an elaborate system and framework has been prepared for distribution of these corona vaccines.

Presently, India has one of the largest infrastructure and capabilities for vaccine India is called 'pharmacy of world'.

Although,PM Modi has not given details of these 3 vaccine candidates.

However,we have information that government has given permission to many vaccine candidates.

DCGI (The Drugs Controller General of India) has given permission for trials to 2 COVID 19 vaccines .

First vaccine candidate is developed by Bharat Biotech International Limited in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research .

Second vaccine candidate has been developed by Zydas Cadila Healthcare Ltd .

These ttwo vaccine candidates have been allowed to go in for the first and second phase of human clinical trials.

The third vaccine candidate which is under trial is Oxford vaccine.

As DCGI has given permission to Serum Institute of India (SII) to conduct phase 2 and 3 human clinical trials in India on the potential covid-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University.

It has been named COVISHIELD (SII-ChAdOx1 nCoV-19).


It is little known fact that about 60 per cent of the different types of vaccines, like polio or measles-rubella vaccine, are manufactured in India and are supplied to the international health agencies and medicine companies foro supply to the whole world.

India has the potential to manufacture COVID 19 vaccine for India alongwith the whole world.
